Basa, like Tilapia, is an important source of protein for millions of people in poor countries. It's only in wealthy nations like here, that we have the luxury of being food snobs and looking down our noses at peoples that have to wash in the same rivers they catch their food in. Australia wouldnt let Basa be sold here if it hadnt passed food safety inspections. Dont believe everything you see on Today Tonight or Current Affair.

I was desiring pollock....as I wanted to make them into fish fingers...but woolies didn’t have any so I decided battered basa would still work... The batter I must concede was a tad thick..not by much as the batter was a darker than I had wanted despite the fish still being cooked nicely as it broke up nicely.... I’ve not really cooked much with fish but thought I should have a bit of a play with it so that when my kids come over I can whip up a nice quick, easy and mostly healthy lunch consisting of some comfort style finger food...it helps them to engage as they can join in making them and it’s gotta be better than maccas or something... - Posted from rhpmobile

It seems my opinion about Basa has upset a few people, so I apologise for my brashness there. It was not my intention to degrade or insult the countries of its origin or the people who eat and enjoy it. I did not form my opinion from a current affair or such show, having grown up and worked in professional fishing industry of different forms around Australia, I based my opinion from knowledge gained within that industry. Yes I may have sounded pompous from my attitude and I do realise that I’m am luckier than many people as I have access to fresh local caught seafood. A lot of which I catch myself. I am passionate about our local seafood and merely wished to share. It is a shame though that the governing bodies of Australian fisheries demand and place so many stringent requirements on Australian pro fisherman that it puts most of our table fish into a price range that many cannot afford, and with the majority of our best produce being exported the demand allows for the import of cheaper products, typical of much of the food on our supermarket shelves. As for the health of some imported products passing Australian requirements, I am no expert on that, but fairly recently there were warnings on some imported prawns. Not health warnings for human consumption, but warnings to not use as bait for fishing as it carried a disease which could be spread to native stocks. So it kind of makes me wonder.

It's the same beliefs with Egg pulp...which is a common catering product everywhere. It's simply the eggs from the farms that have cracks in the shells or are abnormal shapes...blended, strained, pasteurized, frozen and sold in vacuum sealed blocks of 10kg. The farms cant sell these eggs whole partly because it's illegal to. The cracks might get chicken poo caught in them. And first-world consumers are a fussy bunch. We like our eggs to be shaped and coloured just so.. Anyway....the amount of times Ive heard the ignorant say things like, "Ooh, i hope that's not that powdered egg stuff, because i hate the taste, blah, blah, blah.." And they often look so pleased with themselves...as if they've uncovered some great conspiracy...like their local servo is watering down their premium with ethanol or something. 🙄 Fucking hallelujah!!😁😁😁 It's just egg. It tastes like egg. It's actually safer than an egg in the shell because it's pasteurized. Which is what they do to milk. Blah, blah, blah.. And powdered egg? Get your head out of the 1960s or whenever...I've never even seen powdered egg in my life! Is that something you took camping back in the day before the wonder of wonders...vacuum sealing...was invented?😁 Sorry. Enough raving from me. Im allergic to stupid.

It’s a being widely discussed here in Melbourne on various platforms I guess simply because the football is a religion here I didn’t hear the comment live but heard it reported on the late news that night and if you google his name you can hear the audio and judged for yourselves He was disgusting but the rest of the panel were no better and I also think should be sacked. It was simply disgusting What made it worse was in his first interview after the event although apologising for what he said, he stated he was dismayed at triple M’s overreaction. How do you even begin to combat that mentality and ignorant thinking ? Thank you MFW, that’s very nice of you. As you may have read I work on a Saturday night in a escort agency as a phone hostess for extra cash. I’ve just this minute received a message from someone on here saying that I look like a over made up tart and should consider expanding on my duties at the agency. It was put more crudely than that , so now feeling a little bit self conscious and a bit shit , so it’s back to lingerie shots :-(

Thankyou for your very nice post Yes I caved, funny how one message can just tear you up. I have had a bit of a funny weekend, not that that’s his fault , but he hit hard and I could have done without that today Thanks again MFW, ok I’ll put it up , you’re both right, he just shook me for a moment and it was instinctual and a reflex move Btw, if youre (him) reading this. I’m proud of working in a agency. I’m good with it and although I’m not a escort I’d be ok with me if I was. And I’m proud and respectful of those escorts I work with, both male and female, most who are at Uni, your future doctors, lawyers etc with huge HECS debts, remember that You rattled me, that was your intention. You pulled my pigtails, and got my attention, feel better now ? Moving along As for footballers, I’d love to know how Wayne Carey is still employed ?

Sometimes it depends on who is telling the joke. For example, you wouldn't go joking about spastic people would you? Except of course if you are one, for example, Steady Eddy. Frankly I find the old movie I have of his stand up hilarious. The same goes if you're in the USA. Black guys can make jokes at the expense of themselves (eg Chris Rock) but if a white guy does the same, he would get shot! Same I've seen with asian stand ups etc etc. Obviously though in this latest case the joke teller is already an asshat. As the saying goes. Quoting 'MFW_23' I had to google what Barry Hall said as well. Fucking disgusting. How his partner can try to defend him is just beyond me. I'd also like to know why the hell that poor woman's partner was sharing such intimate, personal details about his wife's pregnancy and birth on a radio show. Then laughing at Hall's comment. If I was her I'd be taking the kid and leaving his arse in the dust (before anyone has a go yes I recognise it's not that easy but the level of disrespect it shows by him towards her is absolutely repugnant). The top footballers - in all codes - in Australia are massively overpaid, mostly have huge, over-inflated egos and think they are untouchable. Because let's face it, they usually are. Occasionally one will face some consequences but on the whole they are treated as a protected species. I have absolutely no idea why they are seen and treated as some sort of role models or arbiters of moral behaviour. This country has an unhealthy obsession with its sports stars and really needs to take a good, hard look at these people that are regarded as 'heroes'. This could be generalised to all entertainers, although sportsmen and especially footballers are the worst as you point out. Why do we as a society idolise these people? They certainly do not have a track record of setting a high moral example to aspire to. In fact it really seems to be the total opposite (eg #metoo). Maybe a step above outlaw bikies (and we're starting to idolise them too). The financial rewards these jesters receive are one thing, the profits are being generated and need to go somewhere, but why the adulation and idolisation? Are we so shallow that ability to generate coin is what we rate above all else? Are we so stupefied that we admire what we are are told to admire without question? It's an interesting question you raise MFW, something that puzzles me also. Most people I know (and I don't consider myself insulated) would seem above this type of thinking yet as a collective we go for it with such enthusiasm.

And travelling from McMahons Point to Baulkham Hills, according to google, it’s 27 km along the M2 but appears you can only drive this or I think catch a bus, with a complicated route ? Is there trains from McMahons point to baulkham hills ? Any insight appreciated Doing a soujourn for work soon for maybe three months and I’m trying to work it all out now so I know where to stay as I will be backwards and forwards between these two suburbs. I read some recent news this morning about The Don( Trump ) and his foreign trade policy. So...back in March, I think, he'd introduced tariffs on imported steel and aluminium that entered the US from Europe. He's trying to make good on election promises and spark some life back into American industry by taxing imported goods and materials....as if that will make consumers buy American. If only it was that simple to make things better. But what this does is start the expected trade war....start taxing European imports, and the EU responds by putting tariffs on US imports entering Europe. In particular....Harley Davidson motorcycles entering Europe are now going to have their sale prices raised because of the European import tax.Harley is struggling at the moment, and don't need this. So...like any big business, they decide to move some of their manufacturing to Europe to avoid the import tax.Already, some of their bikes are built in India and Brazil. But....The Don doesn't seem aware of this( or maybe he is )....cracking the shits and threatening repercussions against HD for taking their manufacturing offshore...is he suggesting even getting the IRS, the tax department, to look into them?On Twitter, of course. He'll probably get talked out of that, because the last US President who got the IRS to do his dirty work was Richard Nixon. It looks like a complicated business, international trade between nations.

McMahon's Point is 3 klms from the city in . There are bus lanes which I believe makes getting a bus from the city to Baulkham Hills about a 40 -45 minute run which you wouldn't do in a car except on a Sunday. I think I'd be opting for the bus unless you love driving and traffic doesn't bother you. My son uses a Sydney transport App which makes catching public transport easy. quoting pip... What type of person kills their own kids ? Yes, sadly a man in this case Tragic What is wrong with everyone ? where do i begin... just to qualify this, i dont know any particulars re about the father that murdered his teenage boys other than what the media has thrown up about custody battle and revenge against ex etc. alas this isnt the first nor the last we will read about such henious things. the father who drowned his kids in the lake, the father that threw his daughter off west gate bridge. what i can say is as a father of two beautiful teenage boys who fought tooth and nail 10 years ago in a bitter custody battle, i am a strong advocate of family law reform. 99.9% of us single dads are the most amazing caring fathers to our children and unfortunately cases like the forementioned make custodial cases even more treacherous. i speak from absolute example here. at the time i was in my custody battle, the case of the father drowning his boys in the lake was front and square. as you can imagine, the ex's lawyer jumped all over this and a series of falsehoods were tabled as affidavits in court. cutting a very frgn long story short, a difficult custody battle turned into a vile battle where the onus was on me to prove sanity etc. let me tell you my strength of character was severely tested but i got through it with great support from family and friends. unfortunately alot of men out there dont have that support or the ingrained patriarchal society we still live in dictates that their pride prevents a reach out. so what we invariably end up getting is a disproportianate amount of freshly seperated male suicide and sadly, too many examples of filicide. relative to some very simple reforms that will automatically take the sting, vile and the perceived sense of injustice, lets give the consequences of pergury some bite and not a slap on the wrist. the same applies for breaching court orders. generally speaking if the mother fails to present the children on time or at all for visitations, pretty much jack shit happens, but if the father runs a little late, 2 divisional vans rock up to the house (been there). and most importantly. support your friends. a simple call, a coffee, a man or lady hug. not many words need be exchanged, but a warm smiley face goes a very long way. be kind to eachother my friends xxxxx

It is something I would never ever wish on anyone....He was just a hard working Dad, all he wanted was to see his kids twice a year for 2 weeks during school holidays (we lived over 1000kms from them) without any interference from his ex.Originaly we agree to some ridiculous court orders to make our lives easier, but when she demanded that he pay for her fare to bring them to and from us, insisted that she saw them everyday (for religious reasons), etc. then it was on.In the end, he drove the kids there and back, being a 4 day round trip but I knew that within 2 days of his return the phone calls would start........and we heard all the court orders HE had broken and the many threats that he would never see his kids ever..... She hated me, and when I organised new beds and mattresses to be delivered for the kids (because they were supposedly sleeping on mattresses on the floor), she refused to take delivery of them...all because I had arranged that.........while my ex was working on a remote mine site...go figure! And the system sprouts that they work for what is in the best interest for the children????Bullshit!!!!He spent many $$ and time flying to Perth to attend mediation and even court - guess what? she was a no show...but that was ok - apparently! I can absolutely understand the depths of despair so many men (and women) sink to going through a custody battle in the Family Law system, I have seen it first hand and like you said, there are so many out there that do not have emotional or mental support to help them through. He did join a support group for parents who were going through much the same, but because he worked away on a long shift, it was not of much benefit to him. And it isnt easy on the partner either....I can totally understand how a relationship with a new partner can crumble under all the pressures and strain of such a horrific situation. In the end after a lot of sleepless nights and anxiety etc, he decided it was all too hard to deal with and he walked away......while he still had something left inside of him.......and as I predicted, thankfully the kids came to find their Dad when they turned 18. There are many more horrors I could tell you about, but because I have moved on from my ex (and dealing with his problems) I choose not to re-live the terrible years of what we went through.I just pray and hope that all people going through difficult custody cases find the strength to get through it all un scathed..and people, please support and be there for your mates if they going thru this same shit. I have been sitting by a freshwater creek all afternoon and I have a Mardi Grub stuck inside my jacket. I did have 3 in my pocket originally, but this one seems to have escaped via an unknown hole and ended right down the bottom of the lining where I can't reach it. It won't come out by its own accord and seems to be holding on with it's little pinchers. I can't leave it in there as it will start to smell, and it's a good Steeds Jacket of which I am particularly fond of. Is there any method by way it could be lured out? Sorry to be a bother but since I've dropped in for a coffee (and one of Foxxy's most delicious buns), I thought I'd ask around? Xx Obi1

Apparently ,according to FB ,you have to celebrate with a 6 second kiss. So everyone with a partner have one for me and make it full on, no holds barred passionate. Also feel free to go longer than 6 seconds, I would. No slobbering or deep throat tonsil tongue thrusting. We hates that. Anyway have fun....just over here pashing my arm ......it's not that fun TBH

Have no idea about the wants and urges of a Mardi grub or indeed what it even is. Does it like Mardi Gras??, because if yes, you could coax it out with some body glitter and gold shiny hot pants. Please hang around 'cause your posts are the best. I missed them. Are you still residing in the tree house?

EQ, Do they like Mardi Gras! (LMAO) But what an absolutely fabulous idea! 😂 I will nip into the party section at IGA tomorrow. I am thinking that if I put a hot pink balloon over my pointer finger and put glitter on it, then poke it down the hole in my pocket, it might just coax the bugger out! I will of course let you know if I am successful. I have indeed been away for some time (was those fucking aliens again) and yessum, I have my treehouse back (now that witchypoo and the gals have cleared off with snorkbot. Ah! The serenity! Xx Obi1

Yeah...Nahh...it’s a joke....it’s calibrated by public opinion in my view, strengthened only by the success of the bigger manipulator.... Irrespective of how many dollars you throw it, breaches aren’t handled by enforcement authorities as it’s a civil court(fucking oxymoron that is!!) not a criminal court... Anyway I’ll leave any further comment alone as I get angry as fuck talkin about it... - Posted from rhpmobile

I won’t argue with that either...as I said I couldn’t do it(not saying you were implying I could) but the system isn’t encouraging as we agree on, and I agree it shows just how weak a persons character is to head in that direction... But I see how they would.... In my situation...I’m foreseeing a degradation in contact with girls again, my eldest one now sends me the message that her sisters aren’t coming over to see me instead of their mother... She’s now also the one that gives me the speel that their mother is in the position she’s in because of me and that it’s too late to try and be the hero now after years of not being about...except on weekends... Family courts can’t change that style of programming.... Family courts or any other courts cannot ever take away that style of of assault or even make other parties accountable for it.... Meanwhile the connection becomes even further eroded by one party with no form of recourse....Im left sitting and watching my exes anger and resentment grow inside the 3 people I’d die to protect...all with the expectation for me and others to just accept it... I may not condone it or see it as an option, it doesn’t mean I can’t understand how dark the place is that drives them to it... - Posted from rhpmobile

They have started the rescue mission in the last few hours, sending in 18 divers while the water is at it's lowest levels and much of the cave network is walkable. They'll be attempting to bring the boys out one by one, and each child & the coach have an ambulance & team in attendance. Big hope as the mission goes on. 🍑

I am so incredibly sorry for any parent (and the children) manipulated by the system and/or their fellow parent. It was the Family Court who made me a ward of the state along with so many others. They have a lot to answer for. It is a part of the depth of my thoughts that we need to view things differently in our society so men aren't viewed as the enemy and women, as the be all and end all. I’m sorry to hear that that had occurred to you... I do however disagree with the last bit.....I’m actually along side MFW in that there’s no plausible excuse for violence toward the other party...nor do I believe we should view our different genders with any disparity...to me it doesn’t matter if it’s a woman being a person lacking in decency or a male.... In my case after 10 years of separation and being given the reply “well I’m not going to make the kids do anything they don’t wanna do” I struggle to even want to try anymore as I’m exhausted.....and ultimately my 3 daughters choose to remain with my ex wife as there’s no chores or routine for them and no accountability...the more I push to see them and have them stay the more they push me away... If I walk away I become the failure that I’m sure they see me as and it’s confirmed in their mind... But given that I stay, I’m just a toy on a string that pays my child support plus school camps, clothes and pickup the shortfall when they need it... I’m not ever going to say I wish any of them harm...but fuck me, it’s hard to just sit here powerless and without support constantly as the connection I have with kids is being eroded away and to be blamed for it as well..... And it’s that level of helpless desperation that I feel that helps me see that that despicable roadway seem somewhat understandable....because it would at least mean it would end finally.... So to me, it matters not the gender that’s involved, but a much greater assessment process and follow up with accountability by the family court to see ANY forms of this shit stop....for both men and women alike so that our kids can be given the fairest go at life.... - Posted from rhpmobile

I understand the point you are making. For myself, I have lost two families in my life.I understand more so the fathers that take their own lives. I am not going to go into it too much.. just know this, more often than not it comes out in the wash. Being around for your kids when they need you, makes all the difference.May not be for years.. but being there when they need you. They know you are there for them, that you love them. It comes out in the end. The courts.. what a joke, save your child and ruin yourself financially on an open shut case ($80,000). The system definataley needs an overhaul. Rights of a child.. no I do not believe in all cases unsupervised contact to both parents is in their best interests (mental and physical abuse, not to mention denigration of the other parent). My son grew up believing I hurt him for fun.. absolute bullshit. He only ever got a smack from me twice in his whole life (even then not what I remember being a good smack). We were best buddies before she took him away and filled his head with shit. Now we are close again, for all her lies he has finally rejected her and wants nothing to do with her. I am sad he has lost his mother, wanted better for my child, but she did that herself. Keep on hanging in there mate. I will have a water thanks Foxy.. get this lump out of my throat.

I think we have a misunderstanding along the way. I believe we actually agree in essence. I do not support violence against ourselves or anyone else and that was not where I meant to be in my post. I promise. I was only relating to your situation from my points of view. Sorry to say, I've seen your soft side in the forum and past messages. I've also seen other men in similar situations to ones I've seen mentioned by yourself and others in the forum lately, and heard similar stories. and yes, I have seen other women being, and I've been treated like shit by men too. The way I see it, we start as kids and then we're placed into boxes, pink with a bow for girls and blue with a toy car for boys and then it gets real confusing because we don't fit these shapes and forms as many on RHP can testify. I am not a girly, girl for eg, lol. I don't like pink, and white is an issue because I'm a grub. The original tom boy here. I enjoy sex too, and women aren't supposed to you know!!! Then we're all 'grown' up knowing these views are so much crud but helpless to makes difference from our particular point of helplessness. I hope that rounds out what I've been trying to say better, Peachy, bless you and yours, it's a strong man you obviously are

The lies my son's mother came out with in rebellion to my sexuality finally won. I hung in there till he was in his 20's and then gave up. Finished caring and have no emotion left for him. Life is so simpler. I can understand how frustration and anger can make you snap. And there has been 2 times in my life that l thought if l had a gun l would hurt someone. But thoughts are thoughts and in 99.99% of those cases, self reasoning dispels that urge. But it's the 0.01 % we read about sadly. I am not a violent person, quite the opposite. It's scary to realise that given enough pressure and torment, you can become a different person for a short period and in extreme cases, a different broken person forever

What's the matter? Was there a choice between understanding a caring point of view or going back to familiar behaviours? After all it's easiest to blame every one else isn't it. Or to label them. C**ts that withhold parental visitation rights are just as much c**ts that withhold support for their children. I don't get how you lot keep shoving me in the same boxes you imagine me in though I keep trying to struggle out of them because I am not who you say, or imply I am. I have had so many experiences I could drown in the sharing of them. My ex sucked donkey knobs, but I didn't go around describing him as a c**t because my child mattered more to me than my anger. And that is where, as usual, I'm a lil bit different from even the minority. He used my car while we were together, to stop me using it, taking it to the pub until the one time he forgot to remove the rotor while he there, and that particular day I bicycled down with my bairn in the child seat, drove that car away and hid it in plain sight, and then made my home before him. I refused to be a victim. He left me but still expected visitation rights to my home and body at the end of a long night of drinking at the pub. LOL, and the time he stormed into the pub wanting to know which one the new guy was from the huge table I was sitting at. I still insisted he visit his child and put effort in, and he struggled to do that and even so much as sign a affidavit saying he was paying child support (which he only did sporadically, he didn't want me to use it in court against him) to prove income to help me (and my still current partner) buy a home for our little family. It was for $40. It was because he was so paranoid after the bitch before me f**ked up his s**t. Ran out on him while he was at work taking everything he had set up in the house with her. I could never use the name I'd wanted to for a daughter because of her. Personal peeve :-P. I tried to prove I wasn't her but he always swore he wasn't going to marry, and he never did. I chose a happier life, and My child, in his very early teens, chose not to be dumped with grandma in a distant country town while his dad boozed it up at the pub across the road for weeks at a time during the school holidays. That child was blamed by his father and that poison carried forward to his children which made a huge difference in the end. So many misunderstandings to create the perfect atmosphere for someone who only cares about them-self to take advantage of. The fiance he did get engaged to in his last years was a woman who already had his property in Thailand, but AFTER my child had signed off in a private deal that left no claim on the will, the fiance put in a claim for half that took years to resolve, and that was only after the kids gave in because mine supported their half sibling to the end. The fiance was given half despite the fact she hadn't seen, or been supported my ex in the years leading up to his death during the time he and his finances were cared for by his remaining child, who still wasn't even 18 at the time of his passing. In the end, it turned out, it was my ex's sister who decided my child had no claim and made a deal with the fiance after a claim by herself and my child's grandmother failed. Yeah, she came back to the remaining child asking for help because the fiance gave her nothing. Life sucks, it's funny as f**k, and people can be selfish c**ts. But do we want a better world, or a bitter world? COMMUNITY ANNOUNCEMENT: Peachy, prove you care about some one beside yourself... make a will people

Where it says will should be estate. I chose to lay no claim for past child support and have to say I was deeply satisfied to be able to give my young 'un the family name I have in common with my husband thanks to my ex. My child's original surname became a middle name to show due respect the way I saw it.

No real idea what you’re referring to...my comment regarding cunts that don’t pay their required child support essentially holding the receiver to financial manipulation is acknowledge that the men too can be just as manipulative with the exact same emotional outcomes.... Into THAT box I can safely put my father....it was his opinion that if he couldn’t see my half sister and brother, his ex wasn’t entitled to child support... I’m also rather confused now as to exactly which box you think I keep putting you in...you’re peachy....we agree on some things, we disagree on somethings...I don’t hold you into any classification that everyone else is in.... We disagree on my usage of the word cunt....but so do others, and have I changed it for them? Nope...so in my view, I’m not treating you differently at all...

We(as in I) have arrived at a place in my life, and moreso through being a member here, whereby I am no longer holding my thoughts back, or pulling punches in some kind of attempt to appear to be attractive... In that respect I agree, I never used to use the word cunt in my postings....but it has little to do with poking you or anyone else and everything to do with the fact that I don’t have the inclination or energy to filter my thoughts just to appease a level of social conformity and/or etiquette in order to “fit in” fuck that shit..I’m sorry if you’ve felt as though it’s been directed at your sensitivities... Regarding the lack of reply....I did reply to you regarding becoming the ward of the state...that’s not something I or probably anyone can relate to, so any deeper addressing of it would in my view not have done it justice it deserved.... again that’s not aiming to paint you in a particular light or try and shove you in a box... Regarding the gaslighting, no real clue about that, I’ve not used those words toward you, if I’ve disagreed with something you’ve said I’ve addressed only the component I’ve disagreed with....any posts that is made thereafter or does not contain your name in the box at the top then it’s a generic comment....without any calibration in a particular direction.....if the gaslighting comment was regarding a separate topic and it was upon the phallic thread, then I didn’t see that comment directed toward anyone, so unless you feel as though you were, then I’d suggest it wasn’t directed to you....as I won’t speculate who it was aimed at as I didn’t make it... As I said though, I don’t treat you any differently from MFW, Meander, or the other cunts, I agree at times, I disagree in others....to me it’s just normal to disagree sometimes...doesn’t make anyone any less of a person just cos 1 or 2 people disagree whilst 14 others agree.... - Posted from rhpmobile

Quoting 'Meander' From the site: "Under the theme - Because of Her, We Can! - NAIDOC Week 2018 will be held nationally from Sunday 8 July and continue through to Sunday 15 July. As pillars of our society, Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander women have played – and continue to play - active and significant roles at the community, local, state and national levels. As leaders, trailblazers, politicians, activists and social change advocates, Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander women fought and continue to fight, for justice, equal rights, our rights to country, for law and justice, access to education, employment and to maintain and celebrate our culture, language, music and art. They continue to influence as doctors, lawyers, teachers, electricians, chefs, nurses, architects, rangers, emergency and defence personnel, writers, volunteers, chief executive officers, actors, singer songwriters, journalists, entrepreneurs, media personalities, board members, accountants, academics, sporting icons and Olympians, the list goes on. They are our mothers, our elders, our grandmothers, our aunties, our sisters and our daughters. Sadly, Indigenous women’s role in our cultural, social and political survival has often been invisible, unsung or diminished. For at least 65,000 years, Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander women have carried our dreaming stories, songlines, languages and knowledge that have kept our culture strong and enriched us as the oldest continuing culture on the planet. Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander women were there at first contact. They were there at the Torres Strait Pearlers strike in 1936, the Day of Mourning in 1938, the 1939 Cummeragunja Walk-Off, at the 1946 Pilbara pastoral workers' strike, the 1965 Freedom Rides, the Wave Hill walk off in 1966, on the front line of the Aboriginal Tent Embassy in 1972 and at the drafting of the Uluru Statement. They have marched, protested and spoken at demonstrations and national gatherings for the proper recognition of our rights and calling for national reform and justice. Our women were heavily involved in the campaign for the 1967 Referendum and also put up their hands to represent their people at the establishment of national advocacy and representative bodies from the National Aboriginal Congress (NAC) to ATSIC to Land Councils and onto the National Congress for Australia’s First Peoples. They often did so while caring for our families, maintaining our homes and breaking down cultural and institutionalised barriers and gender stereotypes. Our women did so because they demanded a better life, greater opportunities and - in many cases equal rights - for our children, our families and our people. They were pioneering women like Barangaroo, Truganini, Gladys Elphick, Fannie Cochrane-Smith, Evelyn Scott, Pearl Gibbs, Oodgeroo Noonuccal, Celuia Mapo Salee, Thancoupie, Justine Saunders, Gladys Nicholls, Flo Kennedy, Essie Coffey, Isabel Coe, Emily Kame Kngwarreye, Eleanor Harding, Mum Shirl, Ellie Gaffney and Gladys Tybingoompa. Today, they are trailblazers like Joyce Clague, Yalmay Yunupingu, Evonne Goolagong Cawley, Nova Peris, Carol Martin, Elizabeth Morgan, Barbara Shaw, Rose Richards, Vonda Malone, Margaret Valadian, Lowitja O’Donoghue, June Oscar, Pat O’Shane, Pat Anderson Jill Milroy, Banduk Marika, Linda Burney and Rosalie Kunoth-Monks – to name but a few. Their achievements, their voice, their unwavering passion give us strength and have empowered past generations and paved the way for generations to come.Because of her, we can!" _____________ Thanks for putting this together - amazing xo
