What does "B&D Soft" actually mean?

November 24 2016

Okay, we've already got the basics - but surely there's a massive range that comes under this heading right? Some folks may consider a cheeky bum slap enough to tick the box, whilst others may have their own private dungeon yet still consider their play technically "soft". What do all you swingin' cats mean though? x

Soft generally means no implements and light bondage. I'm the sense no paddles etc while light bondage just means the usual handcuffs and the usual position of being tied down. Hard for me includes; whips, cat of nine, rope, zip ties and better positions of being tied like thigh to calf, ankle to wrist etc. Because whips and chains excite me. Lol - Posted from rhpmobile

I assume it's at all different levels of interpretation, but I have no idea. If was in a situation with someone / some people that wanted to try some things, I guess it's just a matter of discussing what we want to try and if they're up for it, and how you communicate with each other where the boundary is. So referencing Jade above - for me I'd think paddles could be light - but just how you use them to light effect. But maybe just a blindfold is enough for some. I'd be interested to see what people's thoughts are.

No trip to hospital would be light bondage 😁

To me the "B" is about the pain threshold levels. It's entirely up to the individual. What you might call "hard", might construed as soft in my mind. The "D" to me is the psychological exchange of power. I'd call public humiliation strong. Whereas I'd call sucking on another man's cock for my lover.... soft. It's all quite subjective in my view so only you can really decide for yourself. However others thoughts and experiences does help you to define your own versions. - Posted from rhpmobile

There's hard and soft mattresses, hard and soft toothbrushes, hard and soft tacos and now I learn there's hard and soft B & D! . The things you learn on red hot pie..... - Posted from rhpmobile

I think 'soft' means there's no black and blue welts left on your ass afterwards...its awkward to have to explain to my osteopath at my regular appointments... But really, how long's a piece of string? Everyone's pain tolerance and perception of 'soft' will differ

On this site my interpretation of soft play is akin to the '50 shades' beginner packs you see in shops. It's a slap and a tickle, designed to have a bit of cheeky fun - that's my interpretation. For someone to select bdsm hard I would expect that they understand the dynamics of a true d/s relationship, know what aftercare is, have clear boundaries and are interested in a longer term d/s dynamic, which includes the mental play between Dom and sub, rather than exploring in a random sexual encounter - Posted from rhpmobile

Soft - A slap on the arse, a hand around the throat, nibbling, sensual play, wax play, a bit of pretty rope, bit of bedroom bondage, nothing to serious, no real pain. I prefer it a lot harder than soft....My Hard - Blood play, needle play, pain, impact play, bruises, rope suspension, rope bondage, biting, choking, slapping, forced, Dominance, submission, electro play, there's so much more. 💋
