Sydney's Younger Members

August 27 2014

Okay, this is not an event, but a post for people between 20>30, from Sydney to tell their experience with events. We had expressed interest in a member hosted event and when we got there, most of the people were 15-20+ years older than we are and it got us thinking - Where are all the young people? where is our fun night out together? Shouldn't we be getting the most out of our RHP lifestyle. How come these old ducks know how to party in this crappy winter weather. We're sure its been done before, but cant see anything in the near future. So, ladies, gents, couples come one come all: Has anyone in the catagory of 20-30, from sydney Been to OSS, Couples Club and the like. What was your experience with this kind of place. Did you go with a friend or alone? What do you think would make a good event for Gen Y? What bars do you like to go to? Where do you go to pick up? Would you consider going to an RHP event tailored to the younger memebers? If yes, say so in the comments We are really interested in hearing your opinions S&L

Maybe put an event up in the Events section and aim for the age group you are appealed too...even host a Meet and Greet Night..Any one can organize an event. You've done the right thing by posting forum for feedback - just pick a place/date/time and go from there - even post another Forum titled "Sydney's Gen Y Meet and Greet". Keep in mind you won't be able to keep everyone happy when you host an event. I do agree, The Sydney Old ducks certainly know how to party..all year round, not just in crappy winter weather. They certainly are a variety box of mad mad little quackers...LOL! I think the difference is "Old Ducks" have more life experiences and treat the "RHP lifestyle" (as you so gracefully put it) with a little more respect, don't do "Duck lips", nor go "serious duck Hunting" or wear their pants down past their tail feathers. ;) Good Luck with it all. Try Couples Club on Angel & Demon night, it is usually quite a big night and can have up to about 100 people there. The majority of people appear to be in their 20's and 30's on the nights I have gone. And the old ducks are often in very good nick and could probably show you a wild thing or two as well. Every month is different but usually they are very good. Go to a few and see for yourself. They are held on the first Friday of every month. SO NEXT FRIDAY IN FACT.

I would say fairly that the more active users are 30+. Not that this is a bad thing.

Get an under 30's meet and greet up and running. Once you get to know a few people, you can expand from there to include nights out at clubs etc. I think the problem with the younger crowd is they are a bit intimidated by us older ones. We are loud, experienced and outspoken and I can understand why it is so daunting, especially if you don't even think you will have anything in common. We had the same problem in Melbourne getting the younger peeps to come and even though there were a number of them asking if there were going to be anyone their own age there, they didn't come anyway. Be the trailblazer, you won't regret it.

a confidence thing. OP, I realise your post is asking younger people to respond and I'm sure they will. But please also indulge us older ducks as we share our thoughts :) Some younger people are bursting with sexual confidence, but many aren't. Many are still finding their way. By the time you get to 40 and beyond you've often got much more sexual, body and general confidence than you had 10-20 years earlier. I think this might affect the propensity for younger folk to go to events etc. That, and also the fact that they know there'll be a bunch of old ducks there! I think it would be awesome if someone posted an event limited to people in their 20s and 30s. Make sure you show us the pics ;) - Posted from rhpmobile

Surely your generation can put a meet and greet together! Pick a pub, club, where you will feel comfortable! Even a theme is an option if you want to go all out! Would have suggested golden sheaf(double bay) Maybe not now re ,redfoo drama last nite! Idiots everywhere part of life ,have a good event ,whipper snappers! So jealous to be 30s again !!

We had our Gen Y Event saturday. There was a lot of planning, searching and messaging that went into the event. Not just with getting interested members to attend, but the we were approached by RHP/OSS to have an after party at their venue. Needless to say, out of the 40+ interested members and guests, only 20 profiles (couples/singles) were invited to join. Of those we had 9 amazing couples meet us for drinks at Cherry Bar at the casino. Everyone arrived in a fashionable time, we greeted eachother, drank, chatted about work and RHP, other members we'd spoken to. OSS management came to visit us to say hello and welcome us to OSS later. Come 11pm, we wrapped everything up and headed to OSS for a great time. Sometime was needed for everyone to ease into the place, but after a few kicked it off, it everyone had a ball. We've received thank you messages etc and requests for another party.I genuinely think the age group matters, especially for younger people. It can be daunting for young members to go to an older aged event. Really happy with the turn out. Cant wait to have another one. Thanks for you advice above and if youre reading this and you are 20-30 years old, give or take, keep an eye out for GEN Y - Meet and Greet. Also, if youre considering hosting your own party - do it!

I agree with some of the sentiments above about why older people/couples are more active in this type of scene (ie life experience, maturity). By many accounts, still a "spring chicken" here myself, and often enough the youngest at an event. I'm not in Sydney though.

Yeah but who invites young single guys? No one. All the event ads I have ever seen allow couples and single females only, and then there is a line in the add 'NO SINGLE GUYS!!!' Just like that.. So we are left only for Orgies or GBs which personally are not my thing.
