Stood up and disappeared

I have had an ongoing charge with (what I thought was) an amazing girl from Perth. We were both in Sydney for work and spent the entire day messaging each other. I go downstairs at my hotel to pick here up and not only was I stood up the entire chat and profile was gone. I have no idea why someone would do this. What can I do to avoid this in the future and dies this happen a lot? Thank you!!
