Slut or Studette

sex

Why is a guy a hero and a girl a slut... It seems like a bizzare double standard don’t you think. Girls love sex (probably more so) just as much as guys do. It seems about time we were more open about sex and not have a derogatory tag for one gender. Just a musing for the day. Mike

Much as i feel like dribbling tonight i’m not touching this one with a barge pole. Easy question to ask, take a couple of books to answer. Take into account the difference between male and female when it comes to: nature - the reasons we’ve evolved differently upbringing - the girls get dolls and the boys get soldiers social - in my opinion mostly a numbers issue when it comes to this sort of casual play, more complicated still when you consider all the different types of relationships. society - probably more a sum of the others but consider on its own when you take history into consideration If we sit down and really think about it, in my opinion, there’s a few best sellers in that question... You’d like a simple answer? Try another planet lol

Isn’t it still a result of social conditioning? Man the all conquering hero who goes off to fight the war, women the nurturing wives and mothers who keep the homefires burning! No matter how far the fight for equality of the sexes has come, men are still expected to pursue and women to surrender. Therefore a woman who pursues sex for her own pleasure is somehow outside the social norm...it’s the old "good girls don’t" syndrome. The paradox of the madonna and the whore sums it up for me...the virginal woman waiting patiently for her knight to return home and unlock her chastity belt after he has spent every night for the last 12 months away at the crusades bedding the village whore. The modern version can be seen when men marry a beautiful woman (their madonna ) and years later look for sex outside the marriage ( with the village whore ). Men can, woman shouldn’t. I for one have no intention of letting my life go by waiting to be rescued from the chains of my social conditioning!

The word slut is around because men constatly put down women whenever they do something that says we are equal. It sjust mens way of trying to make us feel unequal........... We’re used to it... We no longer care.

Mike, Having read what everyone has to say just made me think... To put it simply, I’m obviously a slut. I love sex. Tried the denial thing, and it doesn’t work. I play safely and try to make sure everyone enjoys themselves. For the record as well, I was called a whore last night. Hmmm, seems like I am not allowed to have fun whilst on holiday. Pardon me, just going to hang out the red light.... Maybe a lot of people need to look to their own business and stop minding everyone else’s. Just my opinion.

It seems to me that the word ’slut’ is used about women who have a sex life that ’empowers’ her. (words used above) so if the name is going to stick around and be used for a few more genterations- then................. I am a slut!!!!!!!!!!!!!! and proud of it!! - I wear the name with pride !! lol Cheers Tina

Always an interesting question this one... First surfaced for me about 4 years ago. Done some worldwide research and interviews. Actually used this question as a qualitative research assignment during my psychology degree. My group found that what seemed to be the case in most situations where the term is actually used, not the definition of he word. Was in interaction between women and in this circumstance the negative connotation was used. Guys used it less frequently and when it was used its was used as a positive or neutral context. Ofcourse there were the exceptions. From some of the interviews we found that most of the people using the term were religious single women that had lower social skills while the women with better social skills and less of a sheltered upbringing tended to use it less. Men do use the word but it is often in the social context and is not meant in most cases as a derogitory comment. While women who we believed were "jealous" or resented the freedom of the girls to choose whether they did or did not fornicate... Our research found that the term slut was usually only used when there was a feeling of jealousy/anger involved. While this was not a definitive study only 73 people aged 18 - 26 it did make some sense. Tho no person can account for why everyone does everything they do. Food for thought.

Well I have to say I’m really happy with the level of response to this thread. I think that since we are all on this site that most of us are going to be pretty open about sex. The reality is we all love sex and want sex. If I could I would have sex every day of the week and then some. I think that most people would like that so Slut or Studette nah just another person as horny as me. Mike

I haven’t heard guys call any lass slut derogatively in recent times myself, though i’ve heard women use it about other women, even in the chat room in here??? Anyone i hear using the term without a big smile in appreciation of the girl’s honesty and strength of character for going against the "norm", is immediately crossed of my potential friends list. I’ve obviously nothing in common with them ;). As for "stud". I consider that is a pretty outdated term too, seemingly having more to do with score than having/giving good times. Not exactly what swinging and casual sex is all about lol. Viking, Yes by the "normal" definitions you probably could be called a "slut". I for one am so glad you are the way you are because you are exactly the kind of woman i love to know and enjoy spending time with. If some want to put you down because you have the honesty and strength of mind to admit you can enjoy sex while you are looking for the right one for you then that is thier loss. You are a rare woman with her own mind, to me that makes you special socially as well as in bed, as far as i’m concerned you should be damn proud of it :).

Woods, Thank you so much for you kind words. It’s men, (and I truly mean that term when I think of you) like you who take all the sting out of words like "slut". I’ve said this to you before, I don’t understand the women who have to play games with guys, lead them on, expect everything done for them and then don’t give over. If they were more honest, and told guys what they are ultimately after, it would save everyone a lot of grief. You’re right, I’m searching for "the one", but in the meantime, I’ll be damned if I’ll sit around like a princess and expect all to bow to me (although proper displays of respect to a Viking queen are always welcome!) Not that long ago, one of the guys I work with said I was more a ’bloke’ than most of the guys at work... Now THAT’S a compliment.... See you in 10 weeks babe.... (and counting...!!! lol)

Slut isnt really a word i like...at all.I think it demeans the nature of a happy sexual woman.Expressing your liking to sex should never mean you should be called something that comes across so vile. But lets take a look at this modern world. Basically slut is not more about the way you are behind closed doors. These days its a stereotype for women who just dont know what practical clothing is.Look at our fashion, less is best. Now tell me...is less best on a four year old?Tell me what is right about parading around these slutty clothes when four year olds are following examples. In the city only a few weeks ago i saw a girl...no less then four no older then six wearing knee high boots, mini skirt and a boob tube. Its appalling to see them following these bad examples.Self pride is a very valuable thing. So is right from wrong.I believe in free speech and free dress....but some people take it over board and now its effecting future generations. On the T.V,Catwalk and Night Clubs sex sells. Is it ok to tell an 11yr old girl watching tv that wearing practically nothing and selling yourself cheap and dirty is the right way to go in life?Women bring the term "slut" on themselves. They steal each others boyfriends and husbands, fight, dress skanky, talk like trash and allow companies to use our bodies as a way of selling their products. We have been thrown into a stereotype because of a mans desire to buy a cd with a near naked musician on it.The problem is..it isnt just men allowing this behaviour among women thats wrong....whats wrong is your children are being brought up in a world where its ok to be cheap and dirty and sell yourself.Image is apparently everything.Dressing in tasteful clothing adding sophistication is a way to catch a man....not dressing in nothing.A mans mind left wondering whats underneath your sophisticated exterior is way better then walking past in something that doesnt leave anything to the imagination...except the word slut. sorry about rambling on lol i just believe the word slut is not just a saying for women that sleep with lots of people.a lot of it has to do with image and societys veiw of women.

The term ’slut’ is actually a very good term, in times now past it was used to describe a very sensual and attractive woman who was available. In modern times the word has been misunderstood and most feel it is a derogatory word for a loose woman. But like so many words ’cunt’ for example, they have lost their true place in the vocabulary and have been made derogatory or even profane, mainly through the dogma and power of the sexual deviates who run thechurches.
