I just needed to answer this... I don't believe in castration at all. Most on here know that I am a survivor... But what scares me is...what about the innocent men? What about the men that are accused and found guilty but are really innocent? Why is nothing done to women that make false reports? The women that claim to be raped, but never were? The women that claim their ex's touch and molest and raped kids, only to be spiteful? What do you do to women that rape? Why aren't they included in this discussion? Women do rape too...Women are pedophiles too...Women are liars too xFunlovingx

Big claps for FunLovings posts, they're spot on. Eunuch - does that imply if the male rapist used a condom and kept it gentle we say no harm no foul? The woman could still 'get off' despite being an unwilling participant, would you not prosecute that? I wouldn't know for sure, but I imagine in many cases the major damage is not the penetration - the area is designed for that - it's the psycological aspects. I don't have access to any research - has there been anything definitive? But what makes you think castration would even be effective, you don't need to have balls to rape someone, just a hard thingamo you can stick in them. E.g. The two women in the states who sodomized some bloke with a cucumber against his will.

And as such castration would be ineffective. There are many cases of child sexual abuse against both young females and young males. Then of course there are varying degrees of the act of rape.. I believe it opens up a hornets nest when the dialogue around this is opened. And as Brae says many acts of rape are now perpetrated against males as can be evidenced by Rape Crisis Centres having increased reportings of male victims across Australia where this was once a very female dominated victim rate and a number of support services set up for women now catering to men also. The act of rape is one of abuse and not sex so potentially without part of their anatomy working will they turn to other items such as indicated by sydneyboy ? perhaps they would .. Rape is about control and abuse .. Not sure castration is the answer - conviction is necessary and to that end Reporting is defintely a way to go. Just my thoughts for you all. Sassy xx

Regardless of whatever sentencing or punishment you make available the Judges won't necessarily pass it as a sentence. As obscene as rape is, could you risk castrating possibly an innocent man who's disgruntled ex girlfriend or rejectee claimed rape as a revenge? I'm afraid that I don't have enough faith in either the police or the judicial system to get it right often enough to have non reversible punishment.

There have been many valid points against castration added to this post and ther is one more I would like to point out. Castration would drive the behaviour deeper into the perpetrators mind and fuel added resentment. Rape is a violent crime and does not need a hard on to perpetuate. There have been incidences of chemical castration and these have not worked either.

the likes of those committed against nurse Anita Coby or similar such innocent victims where there is little such evidence .. hmm I think I would be hard pushed to be on a jury where such a crime was committed and say no to castratration (as well as a long term sentance of never to be released).. Rape between man and woman or woman and man is bad enough but what of the children that have been sexually abused even physically scarred from such horrendous acts? I think in this instance........ perhaps putting these sickos in a locked ward for the rest of their lives is the answer.. A lot of sex offenders go through programmes while in jail but a majority of them reoffend. I know if it was my children who were harmed in this way.. well putting these offenders out of their mysery would be an option that i would take great delight in doing.. Guilty beyond reasonable doubt ofcourse.

Some may disagree but as far as I'm concerned there is a simple solution to stop convicted (without doubt) pedophiles, rapists, murderers and even low scum who torture and abuse animals and also drug runners/dealers....that solution is one bullet right between the eyes...no muss, no fuss!! The more of these types that are "dispatched" the better off the world would be!!!

Having worked in the criminal justice system attempting to reduce recidivism in this area, I can tell you that castration does not work. Rape is about violence not sex. I believe the only way to be absolutely sure a perpetrator does not reoffend is to lock them....permanently. A significant number of perpetrators never reoffend after treatment (as far as we know of course) so permanent incarseration is a harsh penalty. so, what is the answer? Short answer is I don't know!

The humble penis is not the problem, nor are his/her hands, or any other attachment. Tis the stuff that festers b'tween his/her ears & until there is irrefutable evidence which proves the benefits of chemical & enviromentally induced behavioural modifications or...dare I say....excising the offending area of the brain which controls aberrant behaviour, then we will continue to be at the mercy of a myriad of predators & an ineffectual legal system. Gotta admire a world dominated & ruled by the criminally insane.

This is where it starts you know. They don't just magically become adults and start this as a hobby you know. These men start doing this as young children or older teenagers to their siblings because it's been done to them. What is the solution? By the time they are adults they've often been doing this for years. It's kind of shutting the gate once the horse has bolted peeps. I understand your point ~ the statistical whatnot ... but those a some pretty horrific generalisations. I'd be willing to bet my left testicle that there are far fewer pedophiles than children who have been molested. Frankly, some people are just psychopathic and incapable of empathy.... maybe that can be the result of being sexually abused.. but maybe that's just because they're fuken freaks. Personally I found Lippy's solution rather attractive at first blush..... I suppose we could line 'em all up for electro shock therapy and a lobotomy. .. you know.. but then the deeply buried empathic mind whispereing into my other ear says "that is so blade runner".. .so I park my dispair back in its dark lonely place. I wonder if there is a chemical switch to turn the empathy light on... .maybe we could pump them full of oestrogen. I'm sure there's a chemical solution, truth be known... since we are after all just made from a a blob of biological stuff. Imagine that. To be brutally honest, castration is pointless, Sex offenders of any stripe who are found guilty beyond a shadow of doubt, should just be put down. I object to my tax dollars being spent to keep these "people" alive. Heaven forbid, if my dogs bit someone, they'd be euthanised; are rapists and peodophiles somehow better? Yes, there will always be some people wrongly convicted, and it would be horrible for them and their families, but having seen the results of sex crimes I honestly have trouble feeling sympathy for the small number of innocent people who would be wronged.
