Respecting others profile requests

I am confused as to why men and possibly women do not respect other peoples profile requests.
I have please do not contact me if you smoke or are married and yet men rock up and say oh btw I read your profile and I see you do not like smoking but I smoke"
Ummmmm is it that hard to follow peoples requests cause it dose not matter how nice you are I am not interested if you smoke.
