New Age Taboo

May 31 2010

sex

As a culture, we've come a far way from the closed minded nature of our social progenitors. Pre-marital sex, homosexuality, transvestism...what was once spoken of in hushed whispers behind closed doors are now dinner conversation. But what taboos are left, and which have grown?Certainly a taboo that has grown and faded in recent years is meeting companions online. But what others remain, and what have still to come?Thoughts on taboo and society?

I think the one taboo that we will never see change in western society and I personally hope never changes is the age taboo. Anyone who is of an age where they are not experienced enough or mature enough to make balanced decisions should be protected by the morals and laws of society. I think it's great that western society is now so accepting of gays, lesbians, TS, TG and those that aren't sure, but is it that the world is finally maturing or is it that we are becoming desensitized to many things because of more extensive media coverage and the internet? Some things I would have been gob smacked by once upon a time I consider now to be a normal part of a healthy couples sex life. Imagine young men 30 years ago who's only information source on sex was a few very tame stick mags and what their mates told them. How would they know about the G-spot and making a woman squirt? How would they know about anal? That would have been a big taboo. To be honest, I'm struggling to think up anything that is considered a taboo these days.

I agree with Stalky. Still wish I could use quote box thingyies. Anyway not much left as taboo any more. The next generation is much more open than mine. Just look at what the media have sold them. Over the last 20 years compared to the eighties. Mmmmm recall watching Duran Duran's video at a mates place for an hour on slow mo and still. This was on VHS. So there was flicker. Internet was just a dream. I hardly swore. You could go out on a Friday night and not see a fight. Those things that are taboo. Like age and stuff I hope still stand though I wouldn't hold my breath. With sexy size 4 girls under garments I shudder. Speak to a nine year old OMG most of them are worse than mine was when she was rebelling a break up at 15 yo. I wish there was consumer and retailer backlash. Where are we all going???? Corporate greed has been outed by gFc. Every one is screwing everyone else. It's a bit like here. Stupid pollies tellin us it's over. Bull shit. It's still there. Why??????? Cos they are so dumb or are they lying cos to say the truth would mean instant collapse. I see it every day once prosperous industrial suburbs almost empty. Westfield centres seem emptier. Football players worried about money rather than being men and playing for the team. Oops I better stop. It's just that I don't like where every thing is going. The so called current affair programs have one real story. The rest are adds. So how much do they get paid to journalise ( I don't think that is a word but you get my drift) these products. Don't you feel like a sucker??? Watching a carefully constructed infomercial that you think is new news. Aaaaaaarrrrrggggghhhhhh!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Fab. Oh it was a bee.

There are lots of taboos in my house. All my son's 20 year old friends and their girlfriends and friends of their friends for instance. Oh mumma spank me so that I do not stray from the path! Hugs Stalky

I'm feeling old today. I went to my dentist yesterday and he told me I should start eating softer food at my age. Sigh. Hugs Stalky

You are not the only one. My daughters friends are yummy. Have fun loose all of my family. Definately taboo. Oh she's 20 as well I'm not a total sicko. I even asked her the age question. Lol. Anyone below 25 and she would hate it. Plus generation gap makes me feel old too. Fab.
