Is interest seasonal?

April 27 2015

I've often heard stories of people breaking up before summer so they are single for all the festivities. And I'm guessing the converse is possibly appropriate in coupling up for the winter. I am aware we are all different, but I'm wondering does season play a part in whether you might consider a relationship. In other words, with winter around the corner are you considering giving into the comfort of someone being there? Only to find come spring you decide it's time to be foot loose and fancy free? (I say this because I've noticed a recent higher interest, but I don't think I just became more sexier this past period :p )

The weather is not much incentive here...although the nights are a little chilly they are not exactly a three dog night..I will check out the long range forecast though, but I think we are in for lots of rain,,but really who wants to be cloistered with a man for one season, how very irksome xxFreya

Quoting 'OF_78'I've often heard stories of people breaking up before summer so they are single for all the festivities. "Interest" in this place waxes and wanes..... ive noticed some days I'll receive 30+ profile views and contact...... ......and other days, only a couple of views. It may be related to a forum comment, or a profile you viewed being looked at by the network in that persons friends list... or.... pure coincidence of peoples opportunity to log in to this site. One thing I DO know for certain... IF someone was with me ..... for the convenience of winter warmth, or decided to go their own way to enable them to be free for the summer festivities........ I'd be having a long hard look at the kind of people I was letting into my life.

I'm certainly not into it just because it's winter and it's nice to cuddle. I've heard it been mentioned a few times that they wish they were single for summer. Plus recently on a radio show, people rang up complaining about being dumped for this reason come summer. And I know relationships happen when they happen. I'm just wondering if people might be more willing for winter? Or possibly hold off break up until the start of summer. I'm just wondering if like cats are on heat during spring, that it's the same on heat for relationships come autumn, early winter.

From personal experience the 3 big life altering break ups I've had coincided with special occasions. Those being my birthday, New Years eve and Valentines Day. These dates no longer have any special significance to me because they are associated with painful memories. LG

I think its sad to think that people do this knowingly.

I would say the correct term to use would be 'cyclic' instead of 'seasonal'. Getting in and out of relationships does have a general pattern, I don't think the weather has much of an influence. But who knows! Need to see numbers before such an assumption can be made.
