Ha ha ha ha ha ha. Save the miners. What will happen to our banana republic if this country don't get money from diggin holes. What just rely on the sheeps back and bananananas. It will be a total fire sale. Oh. They have sold most of the silverware alreaddy. The gumbymeet is irrelevent. Maybewe will be better if they can out source them selves. We might save some money being run by a call centre in bangladesh. India is too expensive now they are smart. Go the lions. The dorkers don't do well here. Fab.

As per usual, parental responsibility is completing obviated by these big brother sweeping laws which seek to 'protect' our children. The buck stops with us a parents I believe to minimize the exposure they have to sexually explicit material, whether it be on the net, on our living room tv's, reading material etc, etc. This can be done by any number of measures at our disposal currently. It is of more concern to me that 'social' chat rooms will not be affected by censorship laws of this nature and that, it seems, is primarily where a lot of 'grooming' for sex by predatory adults is conducted. I can educate and discuss with my children, a sexual image they may see, I can introduce them to adult concepts as a responsible parent and influence them in the way I see fit as their legal guardian, and I would prefer this to blanket censorship rules which do nothing but act as a bandaid measure in providing any measure of a balanced approach to children and material not deemed suitable for them. As per usual, suits, with no brains attached, seek to grandiose themselves and their latest 'thinktank' approach by inflicting their brand of 'protection' on us all.

Everything this Government touches turns to shit. Whatever happened to the computer for every child? Let's set up a strategy that encourages more boat people? How about a policy that results in burning down 100 houses? RIP those poor buggers who lost their lives because of it. Oh I've got a good idea.. lets fuck up the only industry that's actually turning a profit.... As for internet censorship, let's not trust parents to take control of thier own children... let's do the job for them and censor everything and everyone! You want a police state... No? Me neither... but looks like we're getting one. In the words of Goff Whitlam... It's time for a change. Hugs stalky

Love ya Earl but the idea that selling the right to take all the finite raw materials out of this country to foreign companies then buying back the processed more expensive goods from more foreign companies is just putting off a disaster one day. But hey, miners get paid a shit load and can buy more huge TV's and Mc Mansions thereby keeping the economy rolling on for a short while. Don't worry it'll be a number of generations before Dooms Day comes. We want to be in the international economy but want our wages and standard of living to be the highest while our productivity is low, does anyone think it will work? How about we tax the hell out of all foreign investment to get them outa here, tighten our belts, work hard build our own investment in our own country and maybe one day we'll actually own our country. I'm no economist and sure this is almost impossible but hey I can dream! Censorship, another fruitless idea

Oh but of course I didn't know this was a strip club. I don't think he's on here. That shoul go down with the biggest lies in history. I'm sorry we went on ya mate. I can't watch the News anymore. To hear the shit, the spin, the fakeness makes me want to PUKE. And I'm a leftie. I think just quietly that everyone has realized this. What makes it worse is that the promisses aren't there. Instead we just get f$ck ups and spin. $$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$ back to topic one worrying thing is cable net is no longer password protected. You have a sleep in and the little ones and it's surprising how little (6 year olds are computer savvy.) can browse the net. What happened??? Fab.

This government scrapped the Solar power subsidy to assist with installation coasts at the same time it scrapped the insulation plan... why? Well that's obvious. It isnt committed to lowering a carbon footprint.. its only interest was to meet its obligations under the Kyoto agreement... throw money at it.. decrease our carbon footprint by putting in sopme inulation and increasing the nu8mbe rof homes using solar power and once the target figure is in site.. wham... the program stops. Did this government make industry responsible? No. I can bet you that once the target quota of homes with solar powered homes selling power back to the grid is reached the 60 cent rebate will stop and those with solar power will be paying just as much as everybody else. It's all lip service lippy. Don't be fooled... this govt is not interested in its carbon footprint, else it would inveswt more in local science and research, instead of making our clever people seek employment elsewhere in countries that see the value in research and development and provide grants for those persuits. Mickle.. science is stifled here by our retarded research grant system... and research money is too tight to let scientists dare to dream about things thqat could chage our world... if you knew that a chemical switch turns off prostate cancer and you could isolate that chemical using some technology that you know you can develop... and then apply that same research procedure to breast cancer, then we would drop two of the biggest killers like a hot bun.... However, try and get a grant to develop the technology to isolate proteins from the Australian government... see how you go... nope.. off to Germany (or somewhere) with your ideas go you... That capacity for lateral thinking is the result of our education system.. we basically pay for that education and develop teh kind of culture that promotes lateral thinking... and then force our own brilliant minds to go away to be gainfully engaged. Yes, clever country indeed. I guess that taxing dirty industries and using that income to promote clean technology research could drive those industries to develop that research... they effectively get their own money back along with technology that can be on sold.... Now that seems too logical for polititions Mickle... sounds more like pub talk to me!! As for solar power... by reason that they are connected in series, if one of my existing panels is shaded, I lose all power potentialy generated... and that kind of sucks. I'd like to see my entire roof being a solar collector .. I'd like to see whole neighbourhoods of rooves made of solar collectors... and little wind turbines perhaps instead of power poles.... and clear the city envronment from all those cables so I can take pretty pictures of the buildings I design. :p Plus wireless communications... and then every house gets a router so that the household can decide for themselves which porno channels to block. Hugs Stalky

If this government keeps on going we really will be a nanny state. First they start with internet censorship, then it will be a "National Card" to identify us (yes they have tried and failed before - they will try again), the card will then change that we are microchipped at birth, they will track us, know where we are at any given second. Then they will use some of the new genetic research and manipulate our chromosomes so that we are all to a specific "model"..........oops think that was from Brave New World......lol Ok, seriously, if they want to go down this path, people will find the work arounds. The Net was designed so that it could be accessed from anywhere and when one link was outted another could be used. This will happen. If you get caught........well who knows. As to the other topic that has arisen, that of "Australian Domination" or all grown, built or developed in Aus......... how are you going to pay for it. Who will invest in something that you dont get a return on. Oh yes we could start small, build it up and get Australians behind us........woooaaahhhhh, too much cheap chinese product out there for that!!!!!! Oh and another point, Australia is supposedly a Laissez fair economy.... one with little goverment intervention.........bullshit!!!!! If you haven't noticed, the Australian way is fastly becoming like America. We have tried to replicate for too long what they have. Our government whilst the way it operates is different is very similar in makeup these days. A lot of the members like to quote from the bible or be seen in church. You really dont think they care about us horny little buggers do you!!!! Lets

All, I agree the internet censor ship proposal suck, despite a huge amount of protest by the public (the people who elect the government) our pollies still plod on, increasing there power and imposing their views on you the people. So what f your views don't match theirs, their the moral majority right? Then Tax, Government have grand ideas to sort the country out, that takes money, and when times are tight people pull your belt in, cause governments need to keep taking there share! And why do governments think their so amazingly good at spending money for us? When there track record is so poor, tax us less we know what we want to spend our money on (yes solar powered porn). Most professionals (ie GP's) have to undergo continous professional development, how about some professional standards for polies? Maybe a my pollie web site so we could check how they perfrom a to national standards (read promises) and see what they voted for in the houses of fun (parliment). Here in WA we'd also have a who's doing who section, maybe in Green. Rant over

Hey all,I was watching Q & A on ABC last night and the panel talked about Internet Censorship, there was wide consensus that the governments way of trying to fix the problem of what is censored and what isn't will not work. The 2 biggest positives I saw was give the power to the parents to police the internet for their children at home and that your ISP needs to play a bigger and better role of what comes through their servers, therefore stop the kiddy porn and whatever else is detrimental to society before it can get out there. If I am going to be safer because the government wants to ban the really disgusting stuff on the net I see no problem with it at all but the government needs to get it right. Lets get the onus back on ourselves and if we do something illegal as storing kiddy porn and bang we go to jail for it we have no one to blame except ourselves. If my government is going to protect me and my family from stopping down right dangerous stuff from being accessed on the net then bang I am happy for them to do that and if the civil libertarians are against it them damn them, the govt is just trying to do the right thing.Just my rantPierced
