Antibiotics do not fix herpes or HIV but then wearing condoms may only reduce the chance of infection. It will not stop you from catching them. If you are so concerned about catching a sexually transmitted infection that may (or may not) be life threatening then...... stop engaging in risky practises like swinging and stick to your partner...

Yes, this topic was discussed only recently. And what I said Brae, is that at least they are being honest with you by stating that. I have been with guys that have stated "at all times" yet never donned a condom for oral, and other people that say they do require condoms but you have to repeatedly ask them to put a condom on. Tedious beyond belief. Some blokes are willing to risk it even when they know that the woman is not on any contraception let alone worry about an STD. I don't think I have ever seen men wear condoms for oral sex at sex clubs.xxMeeks

There is not a condom in the world that protects you from Herpes. . We have never seen a dental dam used when a random gives a lady oral....HPV is not just penis/vigina/ass penetration but skin to skin contact mid thighs to mid andomen ....you are at risk its that simple! .. .. Wear condoms . . llifestyle choices for us, screen your partners and test, there is 3 more criteria for safer sex.   . Reminds us of that RACQ advert......What ocean going liner did George hit in his tinnie?   . Condoms ...we limiting some risk.....which is good ....but "safe" is a exageration.

Oops the other posters have beaten me but as Handmaiden/Meeka stated, the only way to avoid catching all the nasties floating around out there is using a condom, which only REDUCES risk and no guarantee against disease or by being somewhat "faithful" to one partner   Believe it or not here in Perth the biggest STD going around at the mo is chlamydia....almost asymptomatic in women (no symptoms) and will only present in men after laying dormant for many months, with the man feeling vague unwellness....we are blaming the rise of it on unprotected sex with everyone heading off to Bali/Asia and partying too hard... and also with the mine workers flying back in and having a full on fun week back home before they swing back up North...(not being judgemental but as you know we test for drugs and alcohol on mine sites and this is when we detect it - it presents itself in urine samples) - its is treatable with antibiotics as is gonorrhoeae and syphilis but in those two illness, you have to go looking for it in the blood first....   Herpes and HIV are treatable but not curable- you will have them for life if you diagnosed with either of them and with HIV, you need to be tested twice, the second time within 3 months of your first test to say you are HIV free....testing is via a blood test...   The other big health risk is believe it or not is Hep B which you can be vaccinated against and if you travel overseas to exotic destinations, then many people chose to have a combined Hep A/B vaccination shot...but if your just a normal player/swinger who hasn't really thought about all of this..., well Hep B is a huge threat. You can carry Hep B up to 6 months before presenting with symptoms and worse than that, you can be the carrier of the disease and yet not suffer from any symtoms and unwillingly pass it onto others.   Hep B is very hard to diagnose (thru a blood test but it is complex testing) and can often not be found in the first round of blood tests......if you are exposed/diagnosed with Hep B your are looking a major lifestyle change....Hep B is annoying in as such as it can present quite vaguely and is often misdiagnosed....but it can make you acutely ill..with long term liver damage/failure and death CAN result.   Yep its Russian roulette out there...and I havent even gone into Hep A or C, Cytomegalovirus etc   In some ways you are better off using the services of the professional ladies who if they work for a well known and established brothel are usually vigilant about their sexual health as its their job...and will insist on the use of condoms..but again its a risk no matter who you play with   Im glad to see on the forums people concerned about their sexual health - you do need to question your potential partners and if they respect you then this shouldnt be a issue for them, and if it is..think twice about playing ...it is always to my amusement when a partner tells me they are disease free...really ...???? mmmmm you may have got clean results back last week, but if you have played just after you got those negative results and before you have just met up with me...sorry but you cannot say with 100 percent certainty that you are "disease free" you can catch anything in that week........what a partner needs to say is "that I regularly address my sexual health but if we are doing the horizontal mambo tonite..then we are both using condoms...!!!" .   Sorry if my post is a downer

ahhhhhh now here is an interesting proposal ! It will not stop infection ???? It will only reduce the chance ! Is this what we are all now being taught ?? That having safe sex wont stop infection ? SO we should all just stop having sex. "Just say no to drugs" has been a raging success ........ Perhaps this is why I see so many people taking greater risks now. Thanks Handy, I love your work .......... i have to agree with you lookingtotry3. i think most people out there not just from rhp but singles and couples are so relaxed on health safety when it comes to using protection and hence why hiv is allmost jumped up 45% in australia over the last 10 years. i must admit i hate wearing them but i want to live life to the full,

What SLK27 is saying pretty well mirrors what the QLD health specialist have told us.   We have to admit the RHP forum has made us better prepared, we use to go the GP and say we have had some extra sex, Can you test for all the sexy things once a year. Results were allways all clear and no discussion entered into.   As a result of RHP forums we went to a sex clinic, we found them very professional non judgemental and approached swinging health issues in a fun and very detailed way. ....discussions and advise was given about high risk countries ...so a caution light flashes for those who have visited those countries. .....Advise on higher risk activities ...so our caution light flashes again for those who engage. .....Immunisised against Hep B ...not hard but dissapointed our GP never went there!....now done. .....Lessons on condom sizing , which was fun and correct use and we had to promise to allways use them ... ......They decided hepC immunisation was not warranted for us, unless we were involved in riming or anal. ......the greater the number of random partners the greater the risk.   Why do people only talk condoms? there is more to it than that to try and reduce risk.

I thought this was about Safe Sex and the box that people tick on thier profile and not a Sex Education class on what diseases you can or can't get without a condom or even with one! And we could all get hit by a bus tomorrow......Stop being such kill joys... Go to omgiamonasexsitebuthavetowarneveryoneaboutthedangersofsex.com! . Brae to answer your question...if I meet someone and he tries to have sex without a condom...then it ain't on...no sex...no head....nothing but a swift kick in the nuts so he remembers where to put the rubber next time he attempts to enter a girl! xFunlovingx

Yes, perhaps a bit of killjoy but a reality check is always in order lol. Being in a happy and healthy relationship, and enjoying the freedom of no condoms in that, is something I relish. That said, to bring a 3rd person into that mix without protection would be playing Russian roulette with what we have ... So unless it was a long standing arrangement with a lot of openness and honesty about the practices of the other party, if it isn't on then it isn't on lol. Well that is my thoughts anyway :-D .... Though as pointed out, it is generally the female with that caution in mind, and not necessarily the male :-P At end of day, it is the individuals who have to decide what they are comfortable with and what they are willing to risk ... Communication is a good start lol. The female half of ClassicGold

Safe sex? You simply have to look after your own health interests and get everyone else to sign a disclaimer (in triplicate). :)I so love the whole "in triplicate" thing... it always reminds me of being the ambitious lil slut that I know I am. HugsStalky

Ahhhhhh so you are considerably reducing your chances of contracting and passing on sexually transmitted disease is the take home message.Play it safe and up your level of protection. That there is an increase in sexually transmitted diseases in many areas. While I don't actually have regular sex with my clients, I am a sex worker and as such I have to be vigilant about hygiene. I have no way of knowing if the guy who's balls I am twisting in my hands is disease free, or if the cum I am cleaning off the floor is a blodge of HIV just looking for a entry point. Short of wearing a contamination suit I do the best I can with gloves, condoms, bleach and disinfectant. I clean my tools, condom my toys, go through a heap of gloves every session and never use a tool such as a cane on someone without cleaning it before using it on another. I don't use dams because I don't allow body worship. At a party I saw another professional Mistress pick up a spiky wartenburg wheel and, without knowing who owned it or whether it was clean, ran it quite hard over a guys chest and nipples. It's things like that I have to be careful about. Even when I use my finger nails on a guy I have to be careful to avoid scratching off things like tiny zits or scabs. IMHO - always required, no excuses.

Again I would suggest the point is that poo comes from bottoms! .Yes if you mix poo ( Faeces ) and your mouth ( oral ) You have a possibility of contracting Hep A from an infected person.Following that if your having oral vaginal sex. Your tongue is about 2 cm away from the same persons anus.Accident + Hep A infected person ( Female in this case ) and your still running the risk. You still run the risk of contracting Hep A if your travel to Asia, Africa, South-Pacific, Central and South America or if your partner has travelled to these places or their partners have travelled to these places. You see Hep A in these countries and also rural aboriginal communities contract Hep A from poor food handling hygiene and from growing vegatables in , or close to human faeces........ If I remember correctly it was a health scare from cucumbers grown in Thialand and an out break from Sydney rock oysters that had Hep A in the news last ! .Bloody swinging its so dam complex ....... DAM ahhhhh thats it a dental dam or a series of immunisation for all possible infection even the ones that you think your not as high a risk of contracting but you understand that your not infallable..And if you are fixated on something really find it hard to come to terms with it and have trouble controlling urges in respect to your feeling around something. Your are obsessed with it and have difficulty in understanding any one elses position on the matter. If you find your self compelled to comment and can not resist the urge ........ then you may need ..............

WA health officials say a dramatic increase in sexually transmitted infections is a result of people having sex younger and with more partners than ever before. Health Department figures show a record number of chlamydia infections - 11,650 - were reported last year, with the biggest increase among 15 to 24-year-olds. The statistics continue a worrying trend. Chlamydia cases have increased fourfold over the past decade. The infection often goes undetected because of a lack of obvious symptoms. A Health Department spokeswoman said increased testing, better reporting, more infections in the community and changes in behaviour, such as people having more partners and being sexually active earlier, had contribute to the rise. More than two-thirds of cases involved older teenagers and young adults and almost 65 per cent of those were females. More than 100 cases of chlamydia and 60 cases of gonorrhoea were recorded in children aged 14 or younger. The Health Department will launch a new social marketing campaign this month to encourage more young people to be tested for chlamydia. Gonorrhoea and syphilis cases were also significantly up on 2010 but did not reach the record numbers reported in 2008. Australian Medical Association State president Dave Mountain said sexually loaded advertising and television programs and a lack of quality sex education were some driving forces behind the problem. "There's all these drivers saying that having sex and being sexy is the be all and end all of everything that we do and we don't counteract that in our society with informed, sensible sex education," Dr Mountain said. He said the threat of HIV had been an effective marketing tool to encourage people to use protection but the fear of the disease had fallen in recent years and current messages did not seem to pack the same punch. He said problems with binge drinking, especially among young girls, and amphetamines were causing people to take part in risky sexual behaviour. WA's high number of fly-in, fly-out workers, booming mining economy and high indigenous population were also contributing to the problem.   "The grim reaper campaign has fallen off and it does seem people are not really getting the message," Dr Mountain said. "You can catch hepatitis B and C reasonably easy. They are nasty viruses that have lifelong implications and a significant mortality rate.To arrange a test for chlamydia see a GP or visit www.couldihaveit. com.au.
